Hello! Allow me to thank you for visiting the Wayward Voyager blog. I truly hope you enjoy the content and more importantly, gain new knowledge and insight into our incredible planet and all of its grandeur.
Now, who am I and why should come back to this site again. My name is Jon a.k.a. the Wayward Voyager. I’m a veteran, I have a loving wife and an incredible child. I’ve worked in and vacationed to various countries for the past several years. I love to travel the world while ticking items off my bucket list.
My background is in aviation. I joined the United States Air Force at 20. My first duty location was in South Korea. It was my first time out of the U.S. and I was hooked. I knew I wanted to continue traveling and see and many places, experience as many cultures and consume as much local cuisine as I could stomach.
After four years, I parted ways with the military took a few decent jobs in my home of Colorado. While I was thankful to be employed and I love Colorado, I had the constant itch to uproot and travel the world once more. I applied for a few jobs overseas and one October I received a call. They said my skills match a position they had and asked the earliest I would be able to leave. They wanted me to fly out the next day but I needed to get my affairs in order and flew out two weeks later for training and medical tests.
A short time later, I was in Kyrgyzstan, at the beginning of winter, asking myself just what the hell I had gotten myself into but I was out of my comfort zone, experiencing a culture I had no idea even existed and I loved every minute of it.
Since then I’ve been to a dozen other countries, flown hundreds of thousands of miles, got married, and had a child. Now I’m here to tell you about my experiences, share some vital travel advise and hopefully entertain you along the way.
